Through the years, Bintangan has been ruled by foreign endeavours such as the Spaniards, Japanese, Americans and Chinese.

Based on the stories, Bintangan got its name the word “Bintan”which means enchanted, foreign endeavors greatly influence this place by organizing the feasts, festivals and gatherings, ancient people related the story to their grandchildren then whenever there will be any activities in the barangay the people borrowed their utensils, plates, etc. from the enchanted cave located near the residence of the late Barangay Captain Marcelino Demetillo. But because people has really the gift of betrayal, they abuse the kindness of the creature living in that enchantive cave. So, the creature got angry and gave their great tremendous revenge to the people through a strong and fearful earthquake, the enchanted cave then disappeared.

But still the people in this barangay up to the present generation, believes that they still with us joining and their memories will never be forgotten in their mind of the Bintanganians.

Barangay Bintangan is one of the twenty three (23) barangays under the Municipal Government of Larena, under the Province of Siquijor.

Based on the 2023 Commission on Election (COMELEC) records, the barangay has Two Hundred (253) of registered voters, it has only One (1) ( Precinct).

Barangay Bintangan has Two (2) (Puroks).
